Wasatch inversion freeze is not a St. George heat spec.

Salt Lake, Provo, and Ogden freeze under inversion and UV at altitude; St. George is a desert heat book. Send the Front vs the south.

Night paving, placeholder for Utah mill and overlay

Why this market

Inversion freeze, elevation UV, and a southern heat contrast.

Wasatch Front freeze-thaw pries open anything thin. Winter inversion holds cold on the mat; spring thaw opens joints. UV at elevation oxidizes overlays faster than a coastal spec expects. Salt Lake, Provo, Ogden, and the I-15 spine — distribution, national retail, campus lots — stay live through freeze, so night work belongs in the first number. Park City and mountain commercial close earlier. St. George is the contrast: heat, UV, and a desert oxidation problem, not a sand-and-freeze marking problem. UDOT-adjacent yards and municipal lots come with season and drainage notes. What fails here is a thin overlay, joints that open after inversion freeze, striping that does not survive a winter of sand on the Front, and a Salt Lake mix in Washington County. If both climates are in the RFP, tag them.

Headquarters is Charlotte. There is no invented Salt Lake storefront. Commercial and public only — one licensed, insured NEXTPAVE contract, not a partner marketplace and not a recruiting page. Crews deliver in-market. We do not publish a Wasatch phone or street address we do not operate. Wasatch inversion freeze and St. George heat are one contract when both are in the RFP.

What fails here

Climate and traffic the spec has to name.

A statewide mix note is how a Utah lot fails in year two. These are the failures the Charlotte desk prices when they are in the package.

Front mix in St. George

Southern heat oxidizes a freeze section. Washington County is a desert book.

Joints that ignore inversion freeze

Cold sits on the valley floor. Thin overlays open on the first thaw.

Markings specified without sand or UV

Wasatch sanding and St. George sun are different killers. Match the region.

Where the lots sit

Wasatch Front first. St. George heat if the book goes south.

Salt Lake, Provo, Ogden, and I-15

Distribution, national retail, and campus lots that stay live through freeze. Night work, inversion cold, and elevation UV belong in the first number. This is the Front — not St. George with a different city name. I-15 yards take truck turns that open a thin overlay after thaw. If sanding already erased markings, put that in the book. Sand-killed markings on an I-15 lot belong in the first number, not a spring extra.

St. George, Park City, and statewide

Southern heat, mountain freeze, and public yards. Attach every site. Park City is a short season; St. George is oxidation and heat. Different climates — one contract when they are in the same RFP. Do not send a Salt Lake freeze section to Washington County. Tag the Front, the mountain, or the south so estimating can match the mat. A Park City short season is not a St. George heat calendar with the city swapped.

What to send

A complete Utah package.

Utah estimating needs Front vs south vs mountain, not a statewide freeze line.

  • Wasatch Front, mountain, or St. George tag on each site
  • Inversion freeze and sanding notes on Front lots
  • Heat and UV notes on Washington County lots
  • Night or live-ops windows along I-15
  • UDOT-adjacent or municipal addenda

Scope

Commercial services we bid in Utah

We bid mill and overlay, parking lots, patching, striping, and ADA on commercial and public sites. Residential driveways are out of scope.

FAQ

Utah freeze, national prime.

Do you have a Salt Lake paving office?
No. Headquarters is Charlotte. Utah commercial work is bid from that desk and delivered in-market. We do not invent Wasatch storefronts.
Is St. George the same spec as Salt Lake?
No. The Front is inversion freeze, sand, and elevation UV. St. George is desert heat. Do not send one mix.
Can you bid SLC and St. George in one package?
Yes. Tag both climates. Mountain sites need their own season. One contract, not a statewide template.
Do you pave residential driveways in Utah?
No. Commercial parking lots, I-15 distribution yards, campus lots, and public work only.
