Atlanta nights and Savannah axles are not the same Georgia job.

Piedmont clay under metro freight lots and coastal soils at the port fail for different reasons. NEXTPAVE bids both from Charlotte as commercial and public work—no residential.

Why this market

Piedmont clay under freight, coastal soils at the port

Georgia commercial lots split along I-75, I-85, I-20, and the Savannah port. Atlanta-area distribution, hospital, and municipal yards sit on Piedmont residual clay that shrinks in late summer and pumps after a wet week. Night mill is the rule because freight does not stop. Savannah and coastal industrial lots add axle load, humidity, and salt air that a metro clay section never saw. GDOT-adjacent contractor yards inherit highway lift habits that do not drain a truck court. Auto-supplier parks along I-75 and warehouse belts around Atlanta fail at dock aprons and turning bays; port lots fail at edges and joints once salt and standing water get under the mat. Name the corridor and the soil before you copy a mix from another Georgia site. Augusta and Macon yards sit between those two failures and still need a corridor tag.

NEXTPAVE bids Georgia commercial and public work from Charlotte. There is no Atlanta or Savannah office on this page. One contract can hold a metro night mill and a port-adjacent yard so the owner is not splitting clay and coastal scopes. Crews mobilize to the lot; the bid desk stays in North Carolina. Residential driveways are out.

What fails here

Climate and traffic the spec has to name.

A statewide mix note is how a Georgia lot fails in year two. These are the failures the Charlotte desk prices when they are in the package.

Clay under Atlanta docks

Piedmont clay under a live Atlanta truck court pumps at the apron after a wet week. The court looks fine at 2 a.m. and ruts by Friday receiving.

Savannah salt at the edge

Port-adjacent lots take salt air and standing water at the fence line. Joints open there first; a metro clay overlay does not address it.

Night-mill cold joints

Freight corridors force short night windows. Poor joints from a rushed lift become the next year’s crack—especially on clay that is still moving.

Where the lots sit

Metro freight vs port industrial

Atlanta freight belt

Distribution, hospital, and municipal lots on the I-75, I-85, and I-20 belt run night mill around live docks. Badge gates and one-court-open phasing are the bid, not a daytime closure. Piedmont clay still moves under the lift. GDOT-adjacent yards on the same belt need commercial traffic control, not a lane-rental highway plan. Turning templates and fire-lane widths belong in the overlay package with the night window. Hospital decks on the belt add ambulance access to the night window.

Savannah and coastal industrial

Port terminals’ adjacent yards, warehouse parks, and municipal lots take axle load on coastal soils with humidity and salt. Drainage outfalls and edge drain matter more than matching an Atlanta mix. Day gates may be tighter than metro nights. If salt and overflow are not in the package, the overlay is a delay until the next wet season. Write the port-gate calendar with the soils. Municipal lots near the river walk the same salt and overflow problem.

What to send

A complete Georgia package.

A complete Georgia package names Atlanta night rules or Savannah port constraints—and the clay.

  • Metro vs port tag on every site, with I-75 / I-85 / I-20 or Savannah location
  • Night-work and live-dock windows for Atlanta-area courts
  • Piedmont clay boring notes or PI for metro pads
  • Coastal drainage and salt-exposure notes for Savannah-area yards
  • GDOT or city spec if the lot is public or contractor-yard adjacent

Scope

Commercial services we bid in Georgia

Atlanta courts need mill-and-overlay in wheel paths plus restripe after night work. Savannah lots often need edge drain and patching before a full lift. Seal over pumping clay or a salted edge is a hold, not a repair.

FAQ

Georgia bid questions

Is there a NEXTPAVE office in Atlanta?
No. Headquarters is Charlotte. We bid Georgia commercial and public work from that desk. We do not list an Atlanta or Savannah storefront.
Will a GDOT shoulder mix hold a private Atlanta truck court?
Only if the owner requires it. Private courts still need a clay-aware section and joints that survive night mill—not a copied highway lift.
Can one contract cover Gwinnett warehouses and a Savannah yard?
Yes. Send both in one package. Phasing will differ: metro nights versus port-gate rules. Soils will differ too—do not hide that.
Do you pave house driveways?
No. Georgia work is commercial and public: distribution courts, hospital campuses, municipal lots, GDOT-adjacent yards, and port-adjacent pavement.
